A Unique Approach To Counseling

Mind-Body-Spirit Pastoral Psychotherapy

Pastoral Psychotherapy is an approach to counseling that intentionally integrates our mind, body, and spirit. In our journey together, we use your values and beliefs to solve the problems and struggles you are experiencing. As a licensed psychotherapist, I draw from counseling techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Logotherapy, Transactional Analysis, and Narrative Therapy to help you change.

At each step of the journey, we will work together to choose the best approach for your situation.Learn More

The human spirit is an inescapable, fundamental aspect of every human being; and it takes on whatever character it has from the experiences and the choices that we have lived through or made in our past.

What is Pastoral Psychotherapy?

Pastoral Psychotherapy intentionally treats the whole person; mind, body, and spirit.  Together, we accomplish this by looking Inward, Outward, Upward, Backward, and Forward.

Inward:  Together we explore, celebrate, and shape your identity; the things that make you who you are.  We work to find the things that bring joy and happiness to your life.  We also pay attention to the information from our somatic sensations.

Outward:  Often times, our relationships with our spouses, friends, family, and coworkers have a significant impact on our emotional and spiritual well-being.  Together we work interpersonally to improve your important relationships

Upward:  Whether we belong to a particular faith tradition or not, we all have beliefs and values that give meaning to our lives.  These beliefs and values are the foundation for our lives.

Backward:  In the quote below, philosopher Dallas Willard shows the importance of our past.  Part of our work can include resolving traumas and attachment issues from the past.

Forward:  Once we have a clear picture of your mental, physical and spiritual well-being, we discover your direction for the future; vocationally, socially, and personally.
